WEST VIRGINIA GOVERNOR JUSTICE SIGNS TWO PRO-LIFE BILLS
West Virginia becomes the 31st state to enact a meaningful Parent’s Right to Know Act. HB 2002, was successfully amended in the Senate and passed on the last day of the session by a 28-6 vote. The House concurred a few hours later by a vote of 82-17. The bill closes a loophole in the 1984 law that allowed for a second doctor to okay a minor girl’s abortion without her parent’s knowledge. The bill still allows for a judicial bypass in abusive situations. Governor Jim Justice approved the bill on April 26.
“We are pleased that the governor agreed with the huge bipartisan majority that parents have a right to know when their minor daughter is having an abortion, an invasive surgical procedure,” said Karen Cross, West Virginians for Life Legislative Coordinator. She continued, “Children don’t understand the long-term emotional, psychological, and physical consequences of making this major life-changing decision.”
Many of these laws have been in effect for decades and have been upheld in the courts. As the Supreme Court has observed, “[t]he medical, emotional, and psychological consequences of an abortion are serious and can be lasting; this is particularly so when the patient is immature.” [H.L. v. Matheson, 450 U.S. 398, 411 (1981).]
Additionally, the Telemedicine Bill, HB 2509, was signed by the governor on the same day after having passed unanimously in the Senate on Tuesday, April 4, and in the House on March 6. The House vote to concur three days later was nearly unanimous.
HB 2509 permits a physician to prescribe certain controlled substances when using telemedicine technologies. Because the Telemedicine Bill would have expanded abortion throughout the state, it was amended in the Senate to prevent long-distance prescription of drugs for the purpose of causing abortion. According to news stories, abortion proponents made it clear that they wanted to use the bill as a means of expanding abortion in West Virginia.
“Because it is irresponsible to prescribe chemicals long-distance for women to abort without medical supervision, West Virginians for Life (WVFL) is elated the bill passed as amended.” said WVFL President Wanda Franz. “These women need the presence of a doctor because chemical abortions trigger an especially intense experience of child birth, which can include severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea with high amounts of bleeding. Women have been traumatized by the experience of delivering their own dead baby. Deaths have occurred world-wide from severe infections, which may be due to suppression of the immune system by the chemicals used in the abortion.”
Both bills will take effect 90 days from passage.
A couple of years ago, the pro-life organization in which I serve as a volunteer, West Virginians For Life (the statewide affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee) distributed a mailer regarding a then-upcoming election. A seemingly sincere pro-abortion woman, Amanda, sent her response (regarding the mailer) by way of publicly commenting at one of our pro-life websites.
Here is her brief comment and my open reply follows it:
Dear Pro lifers of West Virginia,
I just got your advertisement in the mail today telling me not to vote for Natalie Tennat [sic]. Not only am I voting for Natalie for Senate, but she is the only reason I am going to vote. Your philosophies seem to govern much around religion and your love for the Constitution, but only in so far that they pertain to you. You do not care about the rights of others. The right to an abortion, freedom of and from religion. You do not care about women and how the right to abortion, sex education and birth control is a matter of Public Health.
I believe in your freedom of speech as much as believe in my own. I do not wish anything less, or any ill will. All I ask is you refrain from making laws that do not pertain to yourself. If you don’t want an abortion than [sic] don’t have one, but when you take the access away from women you are causing harm onto them. Also, please refrain from using laws from the Old Testament to define your purpose when you yourself do not follow all the laws. Thank you.
Note: for several points in my reply (below) scholarly support is available in the “40 Years of Roe” symposium video available here.
Dear Amanda
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to the mailer.
Did you know that every time a woman has an abortion, she significantly increases her risk of breast cancer, and significantly increases her risk of future preterm delivery, and significantly increases her chance of a future baby being afflicted with cerebral palsy? Not only does a baby whose heartbeat and brainwaves are detectable lose its life in every abortion (practically all abortions happen after the baby has already reached such a stage of development), but the mother is a victim as well.
Many studies have demonstrated links to not only breast cancer, preterm births, and cerebral palsy, but also depression, suicide, and divorce, just to list a few. In almost all cases, the abortion is done merely for the sake of convenience. Quite often it is done because the mother or father don’t like the gender of the baby, or because they don’t want to raise a child that might have an imperfection or disability (and often the doctors are wrong in forecasting such things). Furthermore, not only do the aforementioned detriments occur, but there is a “dose effect” in that with each repeated abortion, her odds get exponentially worse for having these issues. To watch a free online, scholarly presentation of these issues, click here: http://harrison.wvforlife.com/2013/04/28/40-years-of-roe-recap/
Also, did you know that America’s infatuation with abortion is a result of the racism of the people who conjured this movement? Do you know the real history behind it? Did you know the abortion industry’s biggest player, Planned Parenthood, was once openly known by its earlier name as an American Eugenics organization? Do you know the history and motives of Eugenics? Check out maafa21.com – you can watch a startling documentary for free on youtube.com here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqLyyIsKyCU (or via the maafa21.com site, to watch there, via a free code).
Are you aware that the abortionists use (and have used) targeting of their placement of clinics, and targeting of ads, etc, to increase the abortion rate among ethnic minorities? Did you know that before they got American women to “want” to kill their own children, they took in hand to get policies in place to sterilize American women, and did so, by the many thousands, at times without the women’s consent and sometimes even without their knowledge? And that it was especially targeted against Blacks and native American Indians?
Did you know that abortions also have noted detrimental effects on the fathers of the aborted babies as well?
You seem VERY sincere. Please consider that your accusation that we (as pro-life people) don’t care about the rights of others is simply a mistaken mindset. We care about the right to life, and right to good health, of both the women, the men, and the babies affected by the terrible blight of abortion.
I hope you will take some time to learn more about this crucial topic.
Sincerely,
Pastor Doug Joseph

PRO-LIFE LEADERS CARMICHAEL AND ARMSTEAD TO ADDRESS PRO-LIFE RALLY CROWD
Supporters of West Virginians for Life (WVFL) will gather at the Capitol on Monday, March 13, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for annual Pro-Life Rally Day with the main event, a rally, at noon.
West Virginians for Life is pleased to announce that Senate President Mitch Carmichael and House Speaker Tim Armstead will address the crowd as well as Attorney General Patrick Morrisey and Secretary of State Mac Warner. National Right to Life Political Director/WVFL Legislative Coordinator Karen Cross will speak as well as WVFL President Wanda Franz, Ph.D. Pro-life legislators will be introduced and petitions presented during the rally. Additionally, the winners of the Teen Essay Contest will read their winning entries. Other highlights include special music from the Re:Claim Worship Team, singer Frank Tettenburn, and the annual Prayer Processional with walkers carrying crosses.
West Virginians for Life is working to pass HB 2002/SB 424, the Parents Right to Know Act, which would close loopholes in existing state law that allow abortionists to perform secret abortions on underage girls. These loopholes not only interfere with the rights of parents, they put girls in abusive situations at greater risk.
“Parental involvement laws have been incredibly successful in 30 states across the nation. These laws have not only reduced adolescent abortion rates in the given states from 13 to 19 percent but have also reduced adolescent pregnancy rates,” said WVFL President Dr. Wanda Franz. Furthermore, she said, “They also eliminate the risk for the numerous health problems that are known to follow abortion, especially in teens.”
West Virginians for Life, the state affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee, is the state’s largest pro-life group with more than 30 local chapters. West Virginians for Life works through legislation, education and political action to protect those threatened by abortion, infanticide and euthanasia.

I am a 35-year-old mother of a blended family of seven children: Kayla (21), Clayton (16), Shelby (15), Cayleb (14), Gage (13), Zachary (8), and Grace (5). My husband, Ben, and I each had three children before we met, and together we have a daughter. We are also blessed with a beautiful granddaughter, Kannah (4), from our oldest daughter, Kayla. Though Kayla was just a teen when Kannah was born, the child has been nothing but a blessing for our family, especially Kayla. I have been a nurse for nearly eight years, having received my LPN from James Rumsey Technical Institute. I am presently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and plan to move on from there to my Master’s degree.
When I first entered the medical field as a CNA after high school, my goal was to become a midwife. I desired to help women bring their children into the world and to encourage natural childbirth. My first nursing job was at the local jail, where I worked as a floor nurse for two years. I later became the nurse administrator of that facility. Sadly, while there, I witnessed many women entering the facility who were pregnant while addicted to narcotics and involved in prostitution. I soon realized what an epidemic that was in the area. At that time I came to understand that God had a different plan for me. With God’s help, I felt a strong urgency to help women suffering from addiction. I hope this goal will become a reality one day.
My husband and I are members of Hedgesville Baptist Church, where my husband, Ben, is a deacon. We are very involved in the Gospel ministry and participate with missions to the homeless/less fortunate, rallies, and I serve as a youth leader and ladies outreach leader. My mother was involved in the Berkeley County Chapter of West Virginians For Life, so I grew up familiar and involved with the pro-life movement. I participated in all the pro-life walks and rallies with my mother and sisters, and even participated in the state oratory contest in Charleston when I was 16 years old. I have never known life apart from involvement in the pro-life movement.
The biggest challenge I see for today’s pro-life movement is how unaware young people are on right-to-life issues. Sadly, the “prochoice” mantra is all too familiar for the Gen-X and Millennials, who do not always consider the sanctity of life. Unfortunately, these youth allow others to influence and think for them. I hope to raise awareness in this generation. I want to bring the younger and older generations together, and to use whatever technology is available for the good of this cause.
There is an effort currently underway within the American Medical Association (AMA) to abandon its decades-long position opposing assisted suicide and take a neutral stance which only sends a green light to the states that legalizing is acceptable. However, National Right to Life was recently made aware that the AMA will hold an interim meeting on November 13 and 14 in Orlando where a special breakout session will be held on assisted suicide.
Both the national and state medical societies’ opposition to doctor-prescribed suicide have been instrumental in stopping the spread of these dangerous laws. In fact, when the Vermont and California medical societies took neutral positions, it was devastating to the efforts in the legislature to block legalization. Assisting suicide is now legal in Oregon, Washington, Vermont, and California, and the practice may have some legal protection in the state of Montana.

WHAT TO SAY:
(Select one or more of the following statements and re-word or add your own thoughts.)
The AMA should retain its longstanding position in opposition to the legalization of assisted suicide because:
When: Sunday, October 2, 2016 – from 2:00 to 3:00pm
Where: Beside Emily Drive (in the grassy, public right-of-way) at East Pointe shopping center,in Clarksburg, WV.
Who: All Pro-Lifers from both Doddridge County & Harrison County. (This event is sponsored by both counties’ chapters of West Virginians For Life.)
What & Why: This is a public prayer vigil in which Pro-Life people line up alongside a major road, holding signs in defense of preborn babies, and praying for an end to abortion. It lasts about 1 hour, and is a powerful and effective peaceful demonstration that greatly affects the public’s awareness of the issue of abortion.
Note: Feel free to bring baby strollers, lawn chairs, umbrellas, water bottles, etc.
More info:
Some 60 million rejected unborn children have perished by abortion in the United States since 1973. Through the use of science and ultrasound, we know that these children died horrific deaths; none died peacefully during these procedures. Last year, West Virginia passed (for the second time, and then overrode the governor’s second veto of) a ban of abortions after 20 weeks because we know that the unborn child suffers excruciating pain during the abortion procedure. Undercover YouTube videos prove that the barbarous Planned Parenthood turns a continued profit by the selling of aborted babies’ body parts. This year, West Virginia banned the gruesome practice of ripping apart living, preborn babies, limb from limb (which law required the overriding of another veto by Governor Earl Ray Tomblin). We are slowly turning the tide!
The Harrison County & Doddridge County chapters of West Virginians for Life are again organizing participation in the 29th annual National Life Chain that will take place nationwide on October 2, 2016. There will be 12 other life chains participating throughout West Virginia.
Life Chain is a one-hour (60-minutes) silent prayer chain and public witness against abortion. Christians will stand up and pray on behalf of our voiceless preborn citizens and seek God’s divine intervention for the healing of our community and nation and the ultimate end of abortion. This must be done humbly in the true spirit of II Chronicles 7:14.
Because prayer is our most essential weapon, we respectfully ask that you and your congregants join us for these 60 minutes. Please mark this date—October 2, 2016—on your church calendar and help us build a devout prayer vigil that God can use to change hearts and save lives and families in our area.
All participants in this Life Chain will stand beside Emily Drive (in the grassy, public right-of-way) at East Pointe shopping center. Parking is available behind Chick-Fil-A (at Kohl’s). It will be on Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. We will carry signs that read, “Lord, heal our land,” “Pray for an end to abortion,” and “Abortion kills children.” They will be provided for all participants (signs are given out near Chick-Fil-A, and received there for return afterward as well). We welcome any concerns or questions. Feel free to contact us. Also, take note of our websites: harrison.wvforlife.com and doddridge.wvforlife.com

West Virginians for Life Political Action Committee (WVL-PAC) has endorsed Donald Trump for President. Donald Trump has completed a candidate questionnaire with 14 of 14 pro-life answers. He has put out a list of possible Supreme Court candidates that have been widely praised as those who will uphold the Constitution, not legislate from the bench. He is committed to supporting the Republican platform that contains the most pro-life plank ever. He has chosen as his Vice Presidential running mate, Governor Mike Pence from Indiana. While Pence served in Congress, he was designated one of the 20 most Conservative individuals in the Congress and had a 100% pro-life voting record.
Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, has always personally supported abortion rights for women. Her personal support is reflected in the abortion policies she advocates. If elected President of the United States, she would be the most pro-abortion President to ever hold the office.
She has been a regular presenter at Planned Parenthood meetings. At her presentation in June of this year, she restated her support for taxpayer funding of abortion by repealing the Hyde Amendment that has stopped Medicaid funding of abortions since the 1970’s. She opposes the pro-life Texas law that requires abortion clinics to submit to the health and safety laws required of every other health clinic in the state. Her opposition to this law undermines her claim that she supports women, as she will not even assure that abortion facilities are safe.
In other interviews, Hillary has taken the position that the unborn child has no constitutional rights, even in the last days before birth. She supports partial-birth abortions and has emphasized that promoting abortion is a primary goal of President Barack Obama’s foreign policy. She has gone so far as to suggest that, in order to promote this international agenda in pro-life countries, “deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.”
Our culture of life is in jeopardy. A President Hillary Clinton will select pro-abortion Supreme Court Justices, who will set back our hard-won pro-life advances for a generation. We cannot afford to elect her to the presidency so she can put into place the most horrible of pro-abortion policies.
Patsy Trecost, a Pro-Life Democrat from Harrison County, WV has announced that he is running for WV Secretary of State. Trecost will be challenging incumbent Natalie Tennant in the Democrat primary. Tennant is Pro-Abortion and is endorsed by the Pro-Abortion “Emily’s List.” Trecost has a Pro-Life voting record in the WV Legislature.
Harrison County House of Delegates member Patsy Trecost, will run for Secretary of State.
Trecost said he wants to restore the public’s confidence in government and improve elections in the state.
Trecost is in the second year of his first term as a delegate.
Before that, he served for 22 years on Clarksburg City Council.
One day a killer sneaked into heaven.
How? By the mercy and grace of God, of course.
But why would a forgiven soul ever need to sneak in? Because a forgiven soul knows the forgiveness, knows their trespass which required it, and knows the price that was paid to grant it. The very last thing a forgiven soul would ever do is stroll into heaven like one who “owns the place”—like one who did not need mercy and grace to get there. As I was saying, one day a killer sneaked into heaven…. [Click below to read more….]
